It was announced in September that Hasbro would be pulling back in its partnership with Discovery Communications in regards to the Hub Network.

ITEM! THE END OF NETWORK SATURDAY MORNING TV

For the full story, click here.

The CW has announced the end of their Saturday morning Vortexx block of programs in favor of a block called One Magnificent Morning: a five-hour run of educational programs aimed towards teens and parents. The new block is programmed by Litton Entertainment, who also programmed replacements for CBS and ABC's morning line-ups with CBS Dream Team and ABC Kids.

Saturday morning TV rose to prominence during the 1960s and maintained a strong run through the early 90s. FCC standards demanding higher educational content began to drive production companies into the syndicated market. As cable TV began to rise, channels dedicated solely to cartoons emerged, replacing their scarcity on network TV and rendering Saturday morning programming superfluous within a decade. Steadily, the networks eliminated their Saturday morning line-ups in favor of infomercials, news programs or educational programs.
