RICHARD DONNER DEAD AT 91

Best known for his films like Superman, Goonies or Lethal Weapon, in his early career he was directing television which included the Danger Island segments of The Banana Splits Adventure Hour. As one of the rights holders to the EC Comics library, he was given an executive producer credit in Tales From the Cryptkeeper as well as a special thanks credit in the final season.

DAVID HEMBLEN DEAD AT 79

A star of stage and screen, he was probably best known for his role of Magneto in X-Men: The Animated Series. Additionally, he played the Vaultkeeper and several minor roles in the second season of Tales from the Cryptkeeper; Baron DeKlaus in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective; The Supreme Intelligence and Husserl in Silver Surfer; Mack Salmon in an episode of The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police; and Hephaestus, a royal hunter and a villager in Mythic Warriors: Guardians of the Legend. He also provided additional voices for WildC.A.T.S.: Covert Action Teams and The NeverEnding Story (1995).

Probably best known as Leon S. Kennedy from the original version of Resident Evil 2, on Saturdays he played Quicksilver and Arkon in X-Men: The Animated Series, Willy in Free Willy, Theseus and a fisherman in Mythic Warriors: Guardians of the Legend, Shrimplips in Medabots, Willy Stop in Rescue Heroes, and Buford and Mr. Needlenose in Flying Rhino Junior High. He also provided additional voices for The Adventures of Super Mario Bros.3, Wish Kid and Tales From the Cryptkeeper.

HARVEY ATKIN DEAD AT 74

Atkin played King Koopa in all three versions of the Super Mario cartoons, and was the only actor to appear in all three as the same character. His next major starring role was as the titular Sam in The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police. 



He also played Tomahawk in the short-lived Swamp Thing: The Animated Series; an exorcist and Lipscum in two episodes of Beetlejuice; Walter Langkowski, aka Sasquatch, in an episode of X-Men: The Animated Series; Harold Klump and Uncle Harry in two episodes of Tales from the Cryptkeeper; Mr. Malik on an episode of Goosebumps; and Morty in several episodes of Jacob Two-Two. He also provided voices for the spin-off shows ALF Tales and Little Shop.

DON FRANCKS DEAD AT 84



A little late, but we've just learned of the passing of actor and musician Don Francks on April 3rd. You can read the full story here.

Francks had been on several Saturday shows, but probably his most recognizable role was of the recurring villain Sabretooth on X-Men: The Animated Series. His other roles included several voices in Inspector Gadget including that of Dr. Claw in some episodes, Jann Tosh and Boba Fett in Star Wars: Droids, Dr. Arcane in Swamp Thing: The Animated Series, Girth and Hobbs in Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, , Fob Canine in Dog City, the Hunter, the Exterminator and Red Beard in two episodes of Tales from the Cryptkeeper, the Swamp Hermit on two episodes of Goosebumps, Kalek in an episode of Silver Surfer, and the Sandman on an episode of Eerie, Indiana: The Other Dimension. He also provided voices for The Care Bears Family, ALF Tales and Piggsburg Pigs.
